Seed Head Production Video
|

|
| Jeffrey Pettingill points to a few buds of the Russian Knapweed and notes that one of the characteristics is that they will almost always be this lavender color. A few might even be white. A very distinctive characteristic is the flower itself and the seed head is a very closed tight system. It will stay closed even after the flower is pollinated and goes through its entire life cycle. The seed will drop on the ground and can stay viable for 5-10 years until the little bud gets broken open. Jeffrey points to one bud that has changed color and is through pollinating.
