Don't Just Kill - Replace! Video
| Wade Bowcutt asks Jeffrey Pettingill how the Perennial Sowthistle got into this field. Jeffrey explains that the seeds may have been in here before they disturbed the soil to build the ponds. He goes on to explain the best control tool available is "weed prevention," keeping the weeds from coming in. One of the things they could have done here would be to minimize the disturbance, during development to as small an area as possible. Disturbing the soil is the number one problem in weed control. A solution for a disturbed area is to re-vegetate the land and put some desirable plants in place. Jeffrey likes to tell people that they do not want to kill the weeds they want to replace them with something desirable.
