Diffuse Knapweed Rosette Video
| Jeffrey Pettingill is holding an example of a rosette, or the first years growth of the Diffuse Knapweed. As with other biennial plants the rosette is put up first and stays flat to the ground. Then in year two they send up the vegetative growth and the flower. The plant has a fairly small root. To tell the Diffuse Knapweed from the other Knapweeds you will notice that the single leaf he is holding is multi lobed instead of being one big flat leaf like a maple leaf. Spotted knapweed is different and looks similar to a dandelion. He holds the plant up and turns it around where the root is visible, too.
