Rush Skeletonweed Root Video

Roger Batt comments to Bryan Dallolio that we are looking at Rush Skeletonweed and that it has a pretty good root system. Bryan says lets did this up and have a look. Bryan proceeds to dig the plant up and shake the dirt from the root. He says that he'd have to agree with Roger and that this is a pretty substantial root system that grew right around a rusty old nail. Roger states that he's been told that digging the root up like this could actually cause the root system that is still underneath the ground to activate itself and cause it to grow even quicker. He asks Bryan if this is correct. Bryan says it may, but look at the depth at which we cut this plant off (over 1/2 foot). At some point you will exhaust its food reserve and you can control any plant if you hit it hard enough with a hammer. But in this case, I would consider this one controlled. Could it come back from deep buried roots? Maybe - it's got a long way to go. We are fully 7 inches under the ground. They are of course a hardy plant and there is plenty of latex sap full of food reserves in this root as you can see by what's oozing out of it from it's damaged areas.
