Russian Knapweed Identification Video

Bryan Dallolia explains that Russian Knapweed is easily identified by its deeply lobed leaves. He demonstrates that there is a vaguely hairy texture to the plant that you notice when you drag your fingers across it. He then struggles to pull out a small green patch and notes that this is probably just one plant. Finally he states that he can't get it out of the dirt, "it's too big."

Roger Batt pulls out a smaller plant and Bryan notes that Russian Knapweed is a deep rooted perennial plant, as you can tell by last year's growth. Bryan points to the root and explains that he always likes to identify the plant by looking at the black colored tap root. You can see that it has the adventitious root that new growth this year arises from.

Roger holds a root in the sky and notes that the root can reach 23 feet in depth and Bryan agrees that "in some instances it sure can."
