Prevention & Control Video

Roger Batt asks Brian Wilbur the question, "If a person sees this (Whitetop) in their backyard, what would you recommend as a good way to treat it?" Brian responds by saying it is very difficult to take care of manually, with the use of a shovel for example. With the perennial root system every time you cut the root in half you can grow two plants. He states that the best thing that can be done is to keep a yard up and prevent the plant from starting. Prevention is always the first choice. But if you have a place that has been run down and you already have the weed growing, a chemical means of control is good. The county has some products that can take care of Whitetop in lawns. He cautions that if it gets in a flower bed it is a lot more difficult to take care of.
