Tansy Ragwort Toxic To Livestock Video

Brad Bleumer explains that Tansy Ragwort is a toxic plant to livestock. Livestock won't eat it when it is green if they have other forage. It is still toxic when it is in hay so it is not a desirable forage. The weed grows very thick and dense and takes up the place of other grasses. It also has a long seed life and is very persistent in taking over all the other forage in an area.

Brad also notes that the seed will hook on hair and has been tracked by wildlife and livestock into about 50 acres of the heavily forested area nearby. They are working hard with backpack rigs to control the weeds on this project.
