Weed Management Monitoring
| Carl Crabtree explains that one of the things they are doing in the Salmon River Weed Management Area in an effort to document their progress and to depict to granting institutions that they actually are accomplishing something is not only to have objectives described in antecdotal stories about how they are going to do it, but actually be able to analyze the information and have it quantifiable enough that they can measure it. The old axiom that if you can't measure it you can't manage it tends to be how they are looking at these weed efforts. So what they have done is put together with their treatment and inventory work, being able to connect those things. So if they had 500 acres of Yellow Star Thistle in an area, they want to be able to depict that they are using less herbicides and less treatment over time by being able to track what types of treatments they have had on those sites or that particular site and they can do that with the data they are collecting through the work of their field crews.
