| Brad Bleumer notes that at one time the county had about 340 acres of Scotch Broom between the Hope area and Warren Island area. Now, in 2005, he estimates that there might be less than 100 acres left, mostly in just scattered isolated plants like the one shown here, and in small locations. Most of what they have now is a clean-up operation, he notes. They are looking for these individual skipped plants that they may have missed in heavy brush in the last attempt. This is the last phase of getting all of the mature plants. For the next few years they will be watching for seedlings and these pretty blooms to try to stop all seed production for years to come.
